Massy Stores hit by Cyber attack 28.04.22

On Thursday 28th April 2022, the Massy Stores chain was forced to close all of its branches due to an alleged cyber attack. Massy staff said it realized the checkout system was not functioning causing the sales at the company’s 23 branches to come to a halt. The company also said that Surepay and Moneygram wire money transfer services were also affected. The company confirmed in a statement posted to social media that typical sales could not happen at any of their stores due to a “technical issue,” which was later confirmed that a cyber attack led to the technical difficulties.[1]B. Massy said it took immediate action, suspending all customer-facing systems, and worked with third-party experts to resolve the situation. They said their backup servers were not affected and the technical team actively worked with the expert teams to restore the system safely and in the shortest time possible. Massy, stated that their customer’s information had not been impacted by the attack and the company is not aware of any evidence that any customer, supplier or employee data has been compromised or misused as a result of the situation.[2]Trinidad, M.
